Mr. Leonard Akathingo, President and Co-founder of Popya Assistance Foundation (PAF), was recently invited to deliver a presentation on mental health at work at Iipumbu Senior Secondary School in Oshakati. The session, attended by over 100 staff members, emphasized the importance of mental well-being in professional environments.
During his presentation, Mr. Akathingo addressed empathy in the workplace, highlighting how understanding and supporting colleagues can foster a healthier and more productive work atmosphere. He also conducted a practical session on blame-shifting, illustrating how it affects team dynamics and workplace morale.
A key focus of the presentation was the importance of seeking help, especially for men who often face societal pressure to suppress their emotions. Mr. Akathingo encouraged staff members to break the stigma surrounding mental health and seek support when struggling with personal or professional challenges.
PAF remains committed to raising awareness and promoting mental health advocacy in workplaces and communities across Namibia.
